"Official" BBE Table

My brother and I built a table a while back. It was ok, but not the best. I destroyed it with terrible stain advice from Lowes. It looks like it was painted with mustard. It wa fine for a bit but now the wife wants me to upgrade. My dealer has the official BGE tables that are right around what I see "regular" wooden tables going for. I am the least handy person ever and know I could make one myself cheaper but I would rather buy. Questions: the BGE table looks like it hasn't been treated at all. It just looks like wood which I like. I would like to keep it this way. Do I need to do anything to protect it? Again,I would to keep the wood looking the way it does and I already ruined a table trying to stain and protect it.

Thanks

I made the decision to not treat my plain wood table and now 5 years later it looks like hell and some of it is rotting. If you buy it, then spend a week and treat it.
  • I agree with Mosca.  My BGE long table is four and a half years old and has rot.  Cypress and I keep it covered, so I thought no additional treatment necessary.  Wrong.  Apparently the glue used on the top supports organic growth and it was all downhill from there.

Skip it altogether and buy another table. Like those metal ones (I can't remember the name) or just get a nest.
