After seeing this today I thought what a cool & unique burn design to a table top before finishing. Any thoughts?

Though there clearly is a hard finish of some sort on that board which may be what is burning, but surely the wood underneath has gotten a burnt scar in the process.

Lichtenberg Figures! Always cool.
Might make an interesting table top. I think less is more tho. Would probably just make some accent pieces for the table rather than doing a whole top.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
The process uses a couple of electrodes (nails or screws) and an electrolyte on the surface of the wood (salt water or sodium bicarbonate solution). The electricity is a couple thousand volts (usually microwave oven transformers hooked in series).

Interesting process - they look like fractals.

I saw this on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. He burns signs, not tables. In this video he explains his process. I would think that using it on a tabletop would require stabilizing it with epoxy afterward, but that's an armchair quarterback opinion.
