What do you cook on a Mini
My lovely Wife gave me a Mini for Fathers day
I currently have a large and was curious what others cooked on the mini. I have seen Steaks, Chicken and Chops, what else. What setup do you use for a raised grill on the mini, and or do you do an indirect cooking on the mini. If so how. Can't wait to fire that bad boy up, just waiting for my mini daisy wheel to arrive now.

gdub16,
I rolled a rack of ribs and did them low and slow, direct, on our mini, but 99% of the time, we just grill.[p]Ken

gdub16,
I had a stainless steel ring made for my mini egg to use as a raised grill.

YB,
Nice Pictures, I like your setup. Just curious where did you get your mini ring made.[p]Thanks for the ideas

gdub16,[p]The Mini is a grilling machine. For small portions, it doesn't get any better:[p]

I probably use the Mini as much if not more than any of my other cookers. I love it.[p]TRex

gdub16,[p]You can fit a five pack of brats on easily. I have a lipless 8" cake pan that I can nestle in there and soak the brats in beer after grilling them. I did five or six lamb chops on it last week. Of course, hot dogs, chicken breast, burgers, steaks, et cetera. I'm not hard core enough to rig it for an indirect set up - that's why you'll *absolutely* have to have a larger egg down the road. It's imnportant to lay the ground work for your next egg now.[p]RE

gudb16,
I had the ring made at a sheet metal shop...It's 9" x 1 1/2" x 1/8".

TRex,
Nice pictures Jason...When are you coming to Augusta?

gdub16, get yourself an extra cooking grid. I will put two thin firebricks on one and then set the other directly on top to get an indirect cook. You can also set a pie pan on one and then set the other on top of the pie pan to get an indirect with drip tray. I do pork chops, fish, hamburgers, sausages, steaks, and most anything else I'm cooking for just the two of us. Uses very little lump, gets hot really fast and doesa great job of cooking.

I imagine it will be a while, Larry. My dad and sister are headed down to meet my mom and her mother in Pensacola at the end of this week and they're hanging out at my grandmother's house for another week or so. I'm contemplating heading down there for a visit, but Augusta may be further out . . . [p]I am still planning on Eggtoberfest though . . . [p]Hope all is well,[p]Jason

TRex,
LOL. . .nuff said....

gdub16,another way you can raise the grid in the mini is to use one of those spring-form pans and just use it without the bottom. They are 9 inches diameter and fit right in the mini so you can use two grids, multi-level. Chef Arnoldi made a plate setter for the mini out of a kiln shelf for indirect cooking ; it can be done!
