Pork Butt Fat Cap Trimmings?
Legally Blind Egghead

in Pork
For the first time I decided to trim the fat off my Pork Butts as some suggested to increase bark and reduce a greasy mess.
Is there anything that can be done with all the fat cap trimmings?

I give them to my dogs. They never have an objection to that decision.

Use it when you make sausage for extra fat content.Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

I use mine to make lard and cracklins. Just put about a quarter cup to half cup of water in a pot and throw your trimmings (I do a few butts at a time worth of fat). Cook on low to medium for a few hours checking it very so often till the pork far has fully rendered and the strips or squares of fat I added are all fried up nice and crunchy.XL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum
