What am I missing from the box?

I'm a long time Egg 'wanter' and last week actually won my LBGE in a sweepstakes from hometown favorite Boulevard Brewing & HyVee grocery stores!  It was already assembled in the store when I entered the sweepstakes, and had to do a bit of disassembly to get it in the car and home.  I've already hit the Mothership up for replacement silicone tips for the nest legs, and my local dealer got me a couple of the white hinge locks so I can address the slight underbite I created when I reassembled it.  I've registered it online, and have done 2 low-temp cooks (<300F) in it already.  I've been smoking on a gasser for about 7 years now, and have a pretty decent pulled pork thing going.  Couldn't be prouder to be a part of the Eggheads!

So, is there anything else in the box that I need or should be concerned with? (i.e. the red tab thingys used to space the metal rings...my dealer said he never uses them...)

    Congratulations!

I'm sorry that I don't have any helpful information, because our was gifted to us and came assembled.  Just wanted to congratulate you on your good fortune.  You're going to love it!

Don't know what you have so don't know what you're missing. The nest tips are fairly new. I hear they melt and stick to the egg. I wouldn't use them if I got a new egg. They didn't come with mine. Neither did the colored spacers.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

So you are the person that won instead of me, huh?

If you don't have them already, get a platesetter for indirect cooking, and an instant-read thermometer. Thermapens are popular around here. Almost everything else is optional. This place can bleed your wallet dry if you aren't careful!

Hey Welcome.  Your pulled pork will be better than you can imagine now.  Pork butts are a great first low and slow cook.  Try a small one, bone in at 250-275 about an hr/lb. till the bone pulls free around 200 IT.  Couple of good web sites to check out:

Mine came assembled and haven't had to mess with it yet (18 mo.)

+1 on Carolina Q's comment on not using the silicone tips.  They melt and adhere to the ceramic.  Then, if you remove the egg from the nest, they tend to pull pieces of the ceramic off.  It's handled under warranty, but still a pain switching out the base.  Leave them off and you'll see no problems.

Good to know!  Hadn't considered this aspect.  I was trying not to scratch it... would rather see a couple of scratches than a huge, gooey chunk missing...

Congrats on the win.  Did your egg come with a plate setter (or what they now call convEggtor)?  If not you will probably want some way to cook indirect.  You could get a plate setter from your dealer or look at some 3rd party options here:

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

So is that a warranty claim? It's a manufacturer defect. Obviously it won't affect the cooking but it you put it in a nice new custom built table, now you have a big ol bare spot.

The prize did not include the PS/convEGGtor. What I won was an LGBE, Nest, Mate, Grid Lifter, Ash Tool, bag of lump and a box of starters.

That being said, I did swing by my local dealer (ACE Hardware) that evening on the way home with the EGG still in the car and before I got the EGG unloaded and snagged me a PS/convEGGtor !  Already used it on the first two cooks of chicken breasts and then a small 2# brisket!
