Nice guy indeed. I had overpaid him by $3 or so ("tip") and he remembered me and gave me that as discount for the 2nd gasket I bought from him. He said he did not want to make any money of this.

I got a Rutland off of Amazon, along with the high temp sealant.  Not trying to knock Ron by the way.  Just pointing out there are other methods if you can't reach him.

Mines needs replaced and will be contacting Ron soon.  Do you have to take the dome off to remove the old gasket?  I really don't want to take my XL apart if I don't have to.

No you do not, but some people find the installation to be easier back near the hinge area. Suit yourself.
