Rutland fire starter 144 count for $4.95

I saw on Home Depot’s web site that they have Rutland Fire Starter 144 count for $4.95 but it has to be purchased at the sore. Of course when I got to the store there were none. Apparently this is a seasonal product. Even though my local store was out there are stores in Houston (100 miles away) that show to have 30 of these. Bottom line go online and check your local Home Depot. The web site will even show the asile and bin number.

Years ago I bought all these at a mere 50 cents a box at our Menards'.

Tractor Supply sales them as well at their stores.

My personal experience based on those 240 starters I bought for $5 was in spite of being stored in a cool area they lost their ability to light well and I ended up needing 2 pieces. OTOH maybe the reason Menards' got them so cheap that they could sell them so cheap was they already knew they were from a defective batch or something.

    Paraffin Wax and sawdust, IIRC

years ago I used to buy a cheap fireplace log (also wax and sawdust). I think they were/are a couple bucks

left it out on a sunny day and then chunked it up into pieces.

It worked, but i switched over to the napkin and oil and found it easier/better/cheaper

i began with similar starter cubes. Good for a hot fast cook but sometimes when setting up for a low temp cook the things would choke out if i set the vents too early. And they'd smoke forever

good deal if you can get 'em cheap though

Yeah that is a great deal.  Thanks for the heads up but none available within 100 miles of me.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
