trying to get 6 racks of baby backs on a large BGE.  I usually use a rib rack, but can only fit 4 1/2 or so....can I lay the remaining rack and a half on top of the ribs in the rib rack?

Can you add a second level with an extender or bricks and a spare grate?

I have seen pics of peopledoing just what you said and it seemed to work just fine.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Heck, I have cooked ribs low and slow on miniscule surfaces. Stacked racks directly on top of each other. Rotated occasionally. They took a bit more time but were every bit as good as doing them seperated. I did sauce and let finish on both sides one rack at a time. Let them ribs make a ceiling over that rib rack. It will be fine.

Now is the time that people post that guy that had 20 racks on his but I'm not one of those people.
But I've done 10 racks of side ribs and it worked.  Yes, just layer them and I put tin foil spacers between the ones that were touching.  I did pull some after they had good smoke and had to rearrange but it was all fine.
    Experiment and have fun.
