Oversize Tel Tru /BGE Dome Thermometer:

As I am getting older, I have trouble reading the numbers and indicators on my dome thermometer. Time and experience have allowed me to know the temp by the position of the needle, but it would me nice to be able to see the numbers and indicators again. I mentioned it to my wife and she bought and gave me a BGE oversize dome thermometer, that totally solves my problem. I was surprised, as I had never seen a BGE Tel Tru Oversize before. She said she just happened to see it on the BGE rack at True Value, our dealer. It has the same shaft diameter and length as the original but is easily twice the size. Installed in seconds and fits great. Works great as well, IMO, fits exactly like the original, but I can see it easily from several steps away and even through the kitchen window. Nice unexpected Fathers Day gift.

I have no idea how much they want for it. The wife didn't tell me and being a gift, I haven't checked. I am guessing it has a typical BGE price tag though.

Nice, I have had one for a while on my XL and like it a lot. Make sure you calibrate it.

Anybody want to measure the face to give people an idea? Here's the 3" from SmokeWare for $27.95

The face of the BGE oversize from Tel Tru is 3". My wife said it cost $59.99 at True Value. The Smokeware thermometers look really nice, and they are cheaper. Do we know who they are made by? (I would't think Smokeware manufactures thermometers, but who knows?) I have always found Tel Tru to make an exceptionally good product. Maybe worth the extra change, don't know?

Little labels on the back say "Made in China". I have two of them and they are as accurate as my 2 Tel-Tru thermometers.

I have noticed on the past few small and larger eggs that the Tel-Tru varied in quality and physical appearance at least from older model eggs until the most recent thermos. Not sure if the bigger gauge also varied.Austin, Tx

I think I need a new one. Mine is acting a little funny. Had to recalibrate but still doesnt seem to be functioning properly.
