Egg ID number

Have had my XL for 3.5 years. Noticed my fire ring is cracked. Decided I better register the egg. I can't find the ID number on the dome. It is black from cooking. I found something raised that looks like an upside down 17 but I think it is supposed to be at least 4 numbers and maybe more. Any thoughts on how I get the black stuff off to find the ID number? I still have the original receipt but no id number on that.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Wire brush or ball of tin foil.
The number should be in the back of the dome close to the felt line.
I think my large and small both have three digit numbers.___________________________________
