CGS MiniMAX Woo Mods

I've had my MM for a while but have not cooked on it until a couple of moths back. First thing I got was a Woo from CGS. Great product. But I had an idea that would fit, for me anyway, I had kicked around the past 3-4 weeks. With Bruce up from Austin and wanting to make the 15 minute run to Denton TX Saturday morning, off we went.
Bruce picked up some more gear for his AR. I asked Tom for a slight modification to my MM Woo.
I have the PSWoo for my large and wanted handles on my MM Woo, same as the PS Woo.
With the reasons why said and discussed, Tom went to work. And just a bit later I now have, what I think, is the perfect Ceramic Grill Store MiniMAX Woo.
I know, not think, that Tom and the Ceramic Grill Store has absolutely the best customer service pretty anywhere.

Thanks Tom for listening and making it happen.

Good idea. Hopefully they incorporate this on future models.

Thanks, and so would I. I just like having a sturdy and secure way to lift it out when and if needed. The second reason is I did not like the cooking grid to move or spin around. The handles keep this from happening.

Does that basically make it like a small woo? I want handles on my large AR, but I don't get up to Dallas much to go see Tom about it. May have to get it done at a local fab shop.

@caliking Yes it does. But the small Woo is to tall for use in the MiniMAX. It is 3" tall.
I just wanted to make it easy to lift the whole setup, including what I was cooking, at one time. And keep the grid from rotating.

The handles are what make the Woo so convenient to me. I have 4 Woos and consider them to be the MVP's of my egg accessories.

Don't suppose you know if the BGE cast iron grill top fits on that Woo? Don't  know why I am really asking except out of curiosity.

I have the CI grate for my SBGE. The CI does not fit over the handles on mine. I would guess that the situation is the same on the MM Woo.

Only drawback appears to be the ability to spin the grate to equalize hot spots versus picking up the whole thing.

That would be a question for Tom. I'm not a fan of cast iron. I'm sure he can make it happen just like on the large PS Woo. He has one for cast iron and one for standard grid.
I like big S/S rod grids like on my large.

That is one reason I had it done. I got tired of the grid spinning when I would use a spatula. I typically don't have hot spots on the mini or MiniMax. To easy to stir the lump around for even heat when cooking direct. No worries when indirect.

I didn't really want to buy any accessories until I had my MM for a few weeks  so I could really understand what I needed. With the platesetter my grid sits about an inch above the felt fine so I'm not sure why I would really want this unless it had handles.

Id use mine more if I could fit the dang BGE plate setting in it easier. It's an absolute **** to get the PS out of the woo. I have an early version of both the MM and the woo.

Me to. I will just take the plate setter to my driveway and take just a bit off of the legs.
I had to sand flat the fire ring to keep it from rocking on the fire bowl. It looked a bit funny doing figure 8's on the drive till I got it to fit.

Did the same thing on my patio out back.. Need to take the plate setter to the concrete before next week when they come pour my next extension!

    Man it's a tight fit!!

Love the idea of the handles though, I want one to fit my cast iron, like on my large.
