Smoke leaking from gasket

I have new large BGE. I have done two slow cooks so far keeping temp under 400 as suggested for the first 3 times to allow the egg to seal. Both times, I have seen a small stream of smoke coming out of the back and the gasket is now discolored at that same location (about 10% of the circle). Should I wait another cooking session or two before I get concerned or is there something I can do now?

it won't be long before the entire gasket is discolored and you won't see that anymore.
    Did you assemble it yourself?

Try adjusting the bands, with mine, the weight of the lid when open tends to push the bottom band down at the hinge, resulting in a slight misalignment between the two halves.

Yeah, after two years it has some spots where smoke escapes - I spent months chasing those leaks only to have new ones pop up.

I stopped looking for perfection, but if you want a completely sealed egg, make sure the gasket ends are butted up against each other end to end, top and bottom. Make sure your bands are evenly spaced away from the gasket all the way around. After adjusting and tightening, next time it's hot, tighten those bands again because they'll swell when it's hot.

I put small folded lengths of foil at the smoke escape spots, only to have smoke escape elsewhere.

It's like weeds on the lawn.... you can fight them hard, or you can shrug them off.

Have a few beers...smoke seems to vanish afterwards
