Ozzie, the actual comparison (and yeah, it happened quick!) is right here:

It may not destroy the BGE but it IS a kamado -

@Ozzie_Isaac - I really doubt that will happen but I also think that the great majority of Weber buyers will never give the BGE a look.
Weber's business model (from my view) is that they build a solid grilling product and the saw a chance to penetrate the high end charcoal market (think Porsche and the Cayenne when SUV's first hit). Their brand will move product although their price point for the tri-pod (modeled after the XL) is pretty aggressive.
I don't think the kamado cooker manufacturers have a worry as the kamado is a market where you have to go and seek a product. That said, I have eye-balled the Weber and can appreciate their strategy. I must admit I would love to have one, but the price is to steep for me.

Any guesses on how long a load of briquettes will keep that thing cooking? Maybe it is a non issue given their hinged grate and and hinged defuser.“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

I bequeathed my 22 wsm to my younger brother when I got my egg, hard to remember, but I don't think I had many 10+ hrs cooks without having to throw in more charcoal. If the wsm were a car, I'd call it a gas guzzler :-)“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

My 22" WSM goes 18 hrs, no problem. I've never cooked longer than that anyway. I've seen this new grill in person and it easily holds as much lump as the 22" WSM. It's double walled, so it's going to go longer than the WSM. I bet Webers literature on the WSM is conservative also. But those that know how to use them easily can cook as long as needed without a refuel.
I'm excited to buy this grill. This year it's not happening. Family vacation this summer will be eating that money up. -

I just did a 16 hr butt cook on 17lbs of lump and 10 or so briquettes on the 22 WSM, could've easily went 20.
