Omaha steak burgers

Hope you guys don't run me out of town for this, but my parents got me some Omaha steak items for Christmas and my wife has been wanting me to cook the burgers.

Anyone tried their products before? Anything to watch out for when cooking? They are thin so I plan to seat them on the MM.

Quality looks ok from within the package.

I get them twice a year from dear ol' Dad, who doesn't have any idea what to buy me these days.... he calls Omaha Steak, doesn't even use the inter-tubes to send holiday gifts.

Anyway, expect them to be lean, very very lean. They'll turn to leather very quickly if you're too hot.

I tried wrapping them in bacon, that was a disaster, the bacon burned and the burger didn't.

Now I thaw them out, and mix them with chuck I process through my grinder. That gives them enough fat to get them tasty, and I can increase the thickness so they're not hockey pucks when they come off the Egg.

It's very high quality beef... too high for burgers.

Good quality but very small portions.
Try very hot cast iron skillet for the burgers.
They are lean...but nice beef taste.
Got some as gifts as well.
    Thank you,

    This.
I ordered a selection for myself a couple years ago; not a good deal when you look at price per pound, but if you divide it price per meal, it wasn't so bad (these are "I'm-trying-to-lose-weight" portions, not SGH portions).  It all was Select, not Prime.
BUT, the guys in Omaha proceeded to inundate me with additional advertising: two to three mailings a week, two to three home phone calls a week, and at least daily emails.  I finally had to call them and elevate the call and threaten them to get my name off their list.  Never again.

I have not tried these, but if they are as lean as people say I am thinking you may want to cook some bacon, cook burgers in the bacon grease, and have bacon cheeseburgers.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I had bit my tongue earlier about my personal experience with that company. They are first MARKETERS and secondly sell some beef to support their sales staff. They will do their best to get you hooked for years.

They are lean, broke apart from themselves just removing from the wrapping. I'm going to research smash burgers since I keep seeing people rave about that method.

Agree with everything you posted...they are relentless at hounding after the sale.
    Also had to op out.
But so many others are getting bad as well.
Hell, even Thermoworks is getting terrible. I have gotten 4-5 emails in 1 week from them. Even twice a day many times. Crazy...

Well nothing towards Omaha as a company but thanks to all the tips I think the first two were a success, don't have the plated pic but two to go still (updated now have a shot of finished). The skillet/smash burger method seems legit. The mini-max is coming through, skillet is off the charts for my laser thermo.., I know it's over 650 but not sure where it pegs out.

Came out a lot better than expected.

I get a glossy, high-quality sales brochure from Tempurpedic about once a month.  I bought a Tempurpedic about two years ago, one of the best purchases I've made, and it has a 25-year warrantee, quite a bit longer than I'll last.
Do they think I'll be buying additional vacation homes to put all these beds in? It cracks me up.
If they used cheep paper, at least I could use them to light my Egg...  =)
