Ignore the accessories. What is a new XL these days? You get no warranty so unless I'm getting at least 1/2 of new price I'm passing.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html
What am I drinking now? Woodford....neat -
Couldn't agree more. I recently purchased a new XL dome...I had the older low dome and just wanted the high one... $288. Not having a warranty, unless you are saving 50% or more just doesn't make much sense.4Runner said:Ignore the accessories. What is a new XL these days? I agree, the XL can get expensive to replace. The table and everything are nice but that's still high to me if you have to replace the dome or bottom. Do you have a table for your large? I would rather have the warranty, IMHO.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Some things you might think about on the red Egg. How much cooking do you do and for how many? Do you need a bigger egg like the XL, same size or smaller one. I bought an XL because I can always cook less, but have the room for more. There are 3 in my family, but I like to cook for the whole neighborhood at times so the XL is great. From what I have heard about having two larges is parts are interchangeable and you can them for specific things like just for baking to keep it clean. My self I would like a MM, smaller or a medium to just use for the family. Also do you are them both in a table, outdoor kitchen or in nest.
These are things I have thought about on my next egg,now I do have a small Kahana that is a cheaper version of the mini and I wish I would have saved my money and waited to by a real mini egg. I bought it thinking it would get up to temp faster and cook just as the mini, WRONG, but it does save on lump usage. These are just my thoughts and opinions I hope it helps a little to decide on the next egg. Good luck.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo. -
I received mine as a gift last week and glad it was a gift its very expensive that said I agree if you can't get the used one 1/2 off, not a good deal.

I have the large currently and use it all the time... However, I tend to cook for very large crowds rather frequently.. So that it why I want another one... I would like to have a second egg and I am also leaning toward purchasing a gravity feed smoker like Stumps as well.. I do some catering and want to get into competition as well at some pointLarge BGE

Everyone wants to get into competition BBQ. It's overrated IMO. Yes I have competed and done well as a few as well as tanked at a few. Best times I have are at charity events where the pressure is not there and you know your appreciated. Makes me sick to have to buy a SRF gold brisket to feed 6 people I don't know 1 piece each. I'd rather feed my freinds and family with such a wonderful piece of meat. Just sayin.1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa
