I have had my XL for 3 years and only replaced a cracked firegrate and a cracked base. Other than that, it has been truly an amazing eggsperience. I love my egg.

I was planning on the rutland but I found the crack on the base. I figured I would wait until this gasket fries, then I will do the rutland.

These technical questions you may want to direct to a dealer.

I would *think* if you bought an egg with no warranty, but replaced a few parts with parts bought at a dealer those parts would be covered under the warranty for the future. I am not 100% sure though.
That's the kind of question I would direct right to BGE HQ rather than just relying on a dealer as not all dealers always have the real scoop.

When I purchased my egg, the dealer told me that the question was "when" rather than "if" the egg would eventually crack.  He was right, I had my egg for 4 years now and it developed its first crack in the base.  I'll initiate a warranty claim next week...

BTW, I live on the other side of the river in Gatineau.
