    Then tell the guy with the $12K bike to have a nice time pedaling his ass to the condo... It's a vacation, not a race... I was only suggesting that maybe it may be easier for all concerned to just rent the damn things for casual riding and keep things simple. Surely if you can ride a high end bike, a rental should be no problem. Besides, it's vacation, it's not like anyone there is going to know who you are or care what you're riding.

    Here's our solution to the "taking your bike on vacation" problems.  It will travel as luggage on a plane, but vacations that involve planes are short enough that renting is the preferred option then.  Easily fits in the back of the Jeep and has a couple thousand miles around Illinois, Arizona and California.

    We call it her clown bike, but it's really a neat riding bike:


    The real secret is that in less than 30 seconds it folds up into quite a small package:


    And, fits into a suitcase ... this is a commercial picture of one in a case, 'cuz I'm too lazy to get the suitcase down and take a picture:



    Could probably fit a half dozen bikes like this into the back of the Jeep.
