OK, so I am venting...

I hate when you think about doing something and you get distracted, funny, it seems to happen more often as I get older and as the alcohol consumption goes up.

So, getting low on the Rockwood, as in working on the last bag, I knew I had to order 5 more bags from Firecraft. Did I, no. So, yesterday, knowing I was going to be egging a boneless leg of lamb roast, I go to the BBQ store that I purchased the egg from. I went there knowing full well that they did not carry Rockwood, and why did I go there, because the day go the better of me and I did not have time to drive to the store that I know carries Rockwood. Seeing a pattern?

Anyway, I pull into the store, and you guessed it, only minutes before closing and have to settle on the BGE brand. Oh, and yes, I end up paying what I would for Rockwood at the other store. And just because, I ask the sales guy who approaches me, "Do you guys ever carry Rockwood?" Response, "Rockwood, never heard of it," my response, "Really?  You should look into it, I'll take a bag of this and I will have order some Rockwood when I get home."

Fast forward to today, get the BGE all set up with the little bit of Rockwood I have left and top off with the BGE lump purchased yesterday, and I get her stable at 320 ish with the smokeware cap off and the bottom vent dialed in. So what do I do, put the cap on and set the top and bottom thinking I have it nailed... first, dumb to decide to put the cap on and fuss with the vents, and two, to think I nailed it.

I go inside, to chat with my son as he mixes us up another round of bloodymarys, and guess what, my temp when I return is at 440 and rising. Needless to say, I started the fight (yeah right) to bring temp down to where I need it for my cook.

Good news, the sun is out, I am a few cocktails in, and the food will be good when it is ready.

Venting done, life is still good...

To all you God Fearing Eggers... Happy Easter to you , and for those that are not... enjoy your Sunday as well.
