Hi everybody,
I have a question that I'm sure you'll be able to help me with , I am still learning to use my egg and need to get additional shelving to help with more cooking space.
Can I put a baking tray directly on the plate setter to cook some roast potatoes, as I have the chicken doing above that. I'm not sure whether the direct heat would transfer through too much and burn them.
Any guidance with regards to this would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
Julian

Yes you run the risk of burning the portions in contact with the tray. Try any spacer between the platesetter and the baking tray. I use a round cake cooling rack that I stole from the kitchen as a spacer between the platesetter and any tray I use. Use anything that is stable and will not burn up - copper plumbing elbows, nuts or other items from your garage parts bin.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
Foil balls. The chicken drippings make the taters even better

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. With the "straight away" comment I would guess you are off-shore from the USA?? All good here.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

A couple of 10" strips of 3/4" angle iron works well. Anything works, but I need this so often I decided to "upgrade".
