Spending the weekend with the grandparents and while out shopping i couldnt decide between a butt or a whole chicken, i ended up with both. Any recommendations on low n slow temps n basting/spritzing to prevent drying? No brining since they will be slapped on withing the next few hours and pulled for tomorrow for breakfast or brunch. 10lb butt and 6lb chicken. Will probably throw chicken on a little after butt gets going

I'd say search and read previous threads, or watch youtube videos on people doing those cooks on big green eggs. There's a lot of good info out there.
The butt will take much longer then the chicken. The chicken could be done in as few as 2 hours, where as the butt could take up to 15 hours. I personally like the dome temp on my egg between 250 and 275, seems to be where it naturally settles. If you want the butt to get done faster foil it after 3 hours or so.
Use a meat thermometer. Pull the butt at 195-200. Pull the chicken when the breast meat is 165. I would put the chicken in 2-3 hours before you think the butt will be done.
I don't spritz, don't think its necessary. The egg will keep your meat juicy!

@bgeaddikt - great move for your grandparents. And full-marks that they have a BGE. Most eggcellent result right there. Congrats.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. First time they eat food off of an egg, they were familiar with them though. My first time cooking a chicken! On anything! I hauled my large egg from Austin, Tx to Houston, Tx about 3-4 hours just to relax and cook with them. Couldnt have asked for a better result and we have leftovers for the next few daysAustin, Tx
