Pork shoulder smelling funky

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

i opened a cyropack of pork shoulder earlier today. I noticed the pork had a smell to it before I even opened the pack.  Sell by date is still a day away and I bought it from a local butcher a week ago.

So I opened the pack and rinsed the pork about 2 hours ago.  Pork still has a funky smell and is actually stinking up the fridge.

should I just toss this thing?

If the smell doesn't go away after a rinse and short wait I would trust the nose and toss.  Not worth the anxiety.  You may be able to take it back and trade??

Thanks! I'm going to just toss it.  I still have some beef ribs to throw on tomorrow and I don't want to worry about this pork.  As I said, it smelled right when I bought it and that smell just isn't going away

Ok, threw out the pork and realized my trash was on fire! Apparently some of those coals from the egg cleaning weren't cool enough....this cook is off to a rough start!

My advice to you,  "Start drinkin' heavily!"  Good call with the pork.

Sounds like divine intervention to me. Be grateful the pork was bad as it perhaps allowed you to discover the fire earlier than you might have otherwise. The drinking heavily advice is sound. Just know your weekend can only get better from here.
