Steel hoop issues

Last week I got a new large BGE and tightened the hoops to the grill following the instructions and using the spacers. I tightened it up just enough for flat tabs to start to bend like is shown in the instructions. Seems like all the heating and cooling keeps causing them to come loose and my lid to go out of alignment. Should I tighten em up until the carriage bolt start to bend?

Correct. Tighten to the point they bend. Also check them after a high heat session.

You can also tighten them while the egg is hot.

Get out the wrench and torque them around 110 inch pounds. This will hold them.

Wasn't there a torque setting somewhere?
Might be a good place to start.

Has anyone added lock washers too? Or does a solid tightening take care of business?

The nuts don't actually loosen it's just metal expansion.
