17" Blackstone Griddle

Many thanks to the egga who posted the Ace deal, picked mine up yesterday. Hit it with P150, then P800 emery cloth, nice and smooth. Washed with Dawn. Then it went into the oven for a few hours at 500, wiping with a Grapeseed soaked wifebeater every hour. Temps in the 50s, opened up the house for ventilation. Worked great.
Christened today with IA Berkshire, and pullets.
Leftover bacon will be used for deerburgers tonight.
Another home run by the folks at BS. Gonna love this for breakfasts off the tailgate. The crudhole(lower left) and removable pan, is awesome when cleaning post cook. Only possible concern is the way the Coleman tank attaches to the unit. Seems to be alot of weight at that angle. May just have to be careful when transporting, setting up, tearing down.

Thanks Darian,
I'm a bacon and egg babysitter, and prefer to cook low and slow. This was on the lowest setting. Looking forward to cranking it up tonight. Great heat transfer with the H burners and steel.BrandonQuad Cities

Great looking grub and nice work on the seasoning.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks @SmokeyPitt,
Will be fun breaking it in. Much more real estate than I anticipated.BrandonQuad Cities

good idea with the sandpaper, im going to do that too. plenty of space, i had 20 breakfast sausages, 10 strips thick bacon, and 2 pounds corned beef hash on mine this weekend in one cook, then the eggs went on. hoping they make some type of bag carrier for it down the road
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Thanks fish, I took the surface down to almost fully sanded. Wanted the tiniest bit of grit for the seasoning to hold. First cook was almost nonstick, better than I anticipated. It can only get better from here.
I feel good if you've given the 17" approval, have no doubt you'd put it through the proper paces.
I too, would like a carrier down the road. It may just take up permanent residence in the storage compartment of the camper when the season starts.BrandonQuad Cities

Was thinking about getting one of these. What is the purpose of the sandpaper and how do you do it?Canton, GA

@RRog17,
Hand sanding is to smooth the surface before seasoning. Emery cloth works better for hand sanding IMO. Folded a piece in half. Full, even strokes both ways until smooth, about 15 minutes. HTHBrandonQuad Cities

Deerburgs tonight. Gunned in the 400s and 500s, 300s around the edges on high.
1/3lb, kosher, and white pepper. Bacon and Kerrygold Ballyshannon from earlier. Thin spread of Hellmans on the bottom, Mississsippi River Distilling Co. Boetjes on top. Good eats.

Nice, is it on sale? Everywhere else it seems to be $100, including Amazon.

I looked at the price through ace, no mention of a sale, in my book they typically aren't the cheapest, just curious if you knew. Seems like a great price.

Paid $79 for mine from ACE ship to store last week. Seems to be the MSRP. Amazon sellers are probably 3rd party vendors.

With all the Blackstone griddles being used by members, I am hoping someone has come across a good griddle cookbook. Surface temps and methods. Anyone?

Unless the the vendor is a knock off using the Blackstone name, I would assume this is straight from the source.
Sears and a few others also listed for $100 -

Has anyone tried the griddle by Camp Chef that covers their two burner stove? Seems like a good alternative if you already have the burners. Not sure about heat distribution though.
