Hickory Pig in Gainesville is just down the street from my lake house. Best bbq around.

I need to to get to B's and Skylight so I can compare to Bridges. I sure they are all comparable. Sometimes it comes down to which sides one likes best.

Eli's BBQ and Pit to Plate. Both in Cincinnati, both really good! Pit to Plate smokes our Turkey every year for Thanksgiving, it is amazing! We don't cause we do a 10K every year and with that have no time for the cook. Recommend anyone to try either of these options.

    Medium BGE in Cincinnati OH.

There aren't any in my neck of the woods. If you count Montanas and Famous Daves where they bring them in already done and just reheat on a broiler.

My back deck is the only place for BBQ.

I have eaten food from Franklins but will not stand in that line for it.  I thought it was OK.

As @Mickey noted there are so many options around here its really what are up for- I think each place has a best.  I think overall I am a fan of Stiles Switch for local and my two favorites to drive to are City Market in Luling and Coopers in Llano.  Need to get to Snows in Lexington one time as well.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

Lexington BBQ, Aka the honeymonk in my area. Although I prefer eastern NC style. Wilber's in Goldsboro-best in the state.
My opinion is Wilber's has really gone down hill. If you find yourself in the Greenville area try B's bbq.
I like Sam Jones BBQ in Greenville and Skylight Inn in Ayden. There is also a little place in Dudley, close to Goldsboro called Grady's BBQ. It is one of my favorites. A lot of people in that area have never heard of it is so far off the beaten path.

Mr. Pig Stuff family owned bbq joint in Shakopee, MN. Known for their sandwich called the "Pile". It's a sandwich that has brisket, pulled pork, homemade mac & cheese, coleslaw, and topped with barbecue sauce. Killer good

Has Cooper's in Llano gotten better?  I used to love eating there, but the quality just kept slipping.  I havent been in over 5 years though.  Wouldn't mind trying it again.

Victoria, TX - Mumphord's is the most well known place

I live in Austin for a while and never tried Franklin's BBQ.  I will eventually, but we just have too many good places to justify waiting in the line.  Between other places in Austin, Taylor, Lockhart, Luling, or Lexington (or many others), central texas residents are spoiled with good BBQ if you know the right spots.

I had Hutchins in Mckinney, TX for the first time this weekend and it was as advertised.  Brisket was outstanding and they have a bunch of homade, serve yourself sides.  They also had bacon-wrapped jalapenos stuffed with brisket and cream cheese.  The guy in front of me got the last three though.  They looked amazing.

Pretty sure I'm in the minority here.  But when travelling, even to TX, BBQ with cheap commercial flavorless white bread and pickles would not be at the top of the list.  It may be because we have no decent BBQ joints in the area.  Even if we did, I wouldn't see my self indulging on a regular basis.

Have been watching Franklin on Iowa Public TV when its on.  Not impressed with him, or his guests, to say the least.  But hey, it's the cool hipster thang these days, and I can see the whole TX pride thang.

East would be Southern cuisine, then seafood central east, then Italian in NY
Although APL's Daisy Mae would be a must.  Too many other ethnic cuisines in the Big Apple that would be fun seeking out to list.

    Husk in Charleston, SC.

TX would be Tex Mex, or some modern hipster chef cuisine.

HI-  Seafood, a Luau pig cooked in the ground is mandatory IMO.

Just a few examples, but Q is not something I seek out, even in traditionally Q heavy regions.  You won't find me herded for hours in that line.

  • I was in Lexington, KY last year and ate at the Blue Door Smokehouse. They were already out of pulled pork (got there around 1pm) but was still able to get some brisket and smoked sausages. I'm by no means a BBQ connoisseur but they had some of the best brisket I've ever had. Made me really wish I could've tried some pulled pork. Their ranch beans were delicious as well.

I may have gone there several times back in my college days...Love that place.  That was before I even really got into BBQ.  They had decent priced good food and cheap beer.  That's all it takes to get a college kid hooked.

Unfortunately I have no good BBQ joints near me. I do have one I consider a stinker, its called Briquettes, the locals flock to the place. I'm convinced the locals have damaged palettes. Dry touch as nails ribs, briskett that is tough as nails pulled pork with no flavor, nothing of any real value.

Briquettes is quite possibly the worst name for a Q joint in the history of Q joints. I hope that's a joke. If not, it tells me all I need to know about the owners.

I'll second that place.  Some day I'll tackle The Pile.  I generally don't stray far from the brisket.

The name of their new sandwich doesn't make me want one though: Slop Bucket.  Really?  :)

We were up in Lake Placid, NY this past weekend and ate lunch at Smoke Signals BBQ.  Was pretty good.  Brisket was awesome.
