Modified hinges on BGE magazine?

I noticed the hinges look chrome/different then the regular hinges(black). Anybody seen this before? Do smaller models come differently? Or is this a sneak peek into a newer model?

Old model I think. They were silver for a little on the XL and Mini.

Photo shows 2nd Generation hinge of Mini BGE. But it's not really that old.
