Dominos Pizza would fire me!!

3rd pizza on the egg. Still learning. Boy did I learn a big one last night. Made two pizzas, one for me, one for kids. I made the crust from an easy recipe on line I used before. Used some yeast left over from previous pizza cook. Had no clue yeast can suck, as I never checked. Wife asked me, I was like, huh? It never rose. It literally tasted like wet cardboard. On top of that, my set up in the egg was legs down and I forgot to put stone on early enough, so it was a miserable cook. Ended up taking off stone trying to get crust cooked. The kid's was not a lot better as it was not until theirs was cooking I realized the stone was not up to temp and legs were down. I am shamed and back to newb status!!! I did not take any pics out of embarrassment!!

  • Sorry to hear about the lost cook, but I appreciate when others share their mistakes because it helps all of us. I don't want to speak for others, but I would guess most have learned something like that the hard way. I chuckle to think about my second or third cook, which was steak, and I was still learning how to maintain a consistent temp so I threw a couple of baked potatoes on the BGE and when they were done planned to pull them off and crank up the temp up to sear the steaks. Well, I wasn't smart enough at the time to pull the platesetter off and it wasn't until after a disappointing meal I realized that indirect is not the best way to sear (-:
