MiniMax & Woo combo

Hey guys,

My awesome wife threw a surprise party for my 40th and nailed it! She had all of my family, friends, and co-workers there. She also had my gift from her and the kids there - a MiniMax!!!

Based on on everything I have read, I have the newer version of the MiniMax. So after reading everything else, I am thinking of getting the Woo (which I have and love in my XL), but I have not been able to find out how much higher it brings the grate up. There is not a lot of dome space in this egg as it is and I am concerned that I would lose to much area if the grate comes above the felt line at all. Does anybody have this setup that can post a couple of pics with the woo/grate in reference to the felt line? With this setup in are you able to stand a chicken up in this? With this setup can you add another level above the standard grate?

Thanks for all the input! Love this little thing so far!

The Woo does not look level in the pictures, but it is.  My phone camera is making it look that way.

  • Wow that sits much higher than I was expecting. What setup is that - old style max and old style woo? Assuming that CGS's modification would create the same results I assume?

Thanks for sharing Ozzie! Are you happy with the height? Any issues with lack of space in the dome?

That is old style firebox and old style Woo. The mods make the heights the same.

I like to set my food, especially chicken, up in the dome.  I really like the height.  Just take the clip off your thermometer so if it hits the protein it doesn't pierce it or bend.

  • Great thanks Ozzie

  • Congrats on the new MM, I'm sure you will love it. Also, thanks Ozzie for posting those pics as I am also on the fence with the woo.

Stand up chicken with the woo no, at my last eggfest they did a 12lb turkey in one stood up though. I think removed the fire ring and had it in the platesetter.
