  • @MaC122   That's not good. Hope you did not start it. A wagon up the street from us had a fill in driver. He put DEF in the diesel tank and they ran it. The wagon was only 9-12 months old. Now it needs something like 50k in motor work. I'm sure glad the truck I'm assigned to is a 2009 and does not have all the fancy emission BS.

I had a roommate in college fill my jetta diesel tank w/unleaded and drove it until it choked and died.  flush of the system and a few other things got it running again, about $1200 in 1980's $.  No problems after that, but I suppose today's engines and systems are probably more sensitive.
    Love you bro!

I've seen this statement many a times over on the VW forum I'm on.  It happens more than most people think.  I'm sure the Chief will be even more pissed when he finds out how much the damage will cost and how long the repair will take.

I had a co-worker that took delivery of a brand new Dodge Ram (gas).  His first week of owning it, he decided to take a scenic relaxing trip into the UP (upper peninsula, Michigan).  Once he was up there, he filled it up.  Come to find out, the fuel delivery driver put DIESEL in the underground GAS tank at that gas station. I know he came home without his truck.  I can't remember exactly what was required to repair it.

The gas station should have been responsible for all repairs, in this case... Hopefully.
