  • Ok, so this past weekend I gained a few pounds. Thursday we stayed in North Charleston and went to an Irish pub for dinner. A riff on nachos- fresh potato chips topped with Sheppards pie. Then went to Dig in The Park, college bar but hey I don't mind partying with the college seen. Raining the whole time, but still hung out at the outdoor bar with big fire pits raging. Friday was mostly sightseeing, walked all over the place. Had dinner at The Ordinary (see above pic), went to Magnolia's for a couple of drinks and ended up at The Republican which had live music and great atmosphere. I am very happy for public transportation as we were in no condition to drive. Started Saturday off at Boxcar Betty's, fried chicken sandwiches with pimento cheese and peach slaw on them. Went to Poogans for a quick snack of fried green tomatoes and fried pimento cheese balls with green tomato jam, WOW, washed down with a couple of Bloody Marys topped with shrimp. We then went to the old Citadel which is an Embassy Suites now. Very cool place, the history there and in Charleston amazing.  Walked the city for a couple of hours looking at the old houses then stopped at Closed For Business where we had fresh pork rinds and a couple of local brews. We then went to Hank's Seafood for dinner. We didn't make reservations, so we sat at the open seating table with a bunch of people and man was that fun. Eating great seafood talking with people from all over what could be better. Oh I know, an oyster shooter. A Bloody Mary with an oyster in it set up as a shot. Hank's was very cool. We ate lobster, scallops, clams, oysters, fish, mussels and of course shrimp. Will definitely go back there. We will be back in September for a convention, can't wait!

Great choices. I'm glad you went to Hank's. It is very underrated in my opinion and always has a great vibe and great food. Most every time I meet a local for drinks or dinner they suggest Hank's. There are a lot of high quality Bloody Mary's to be had in Charleston, that's for sure.
