Tequila, Agave Necatar, fresh lime juice, a little fresh orange juice and ice.  Once it is blended pour into a glass and float a little Grand Marnier on top.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

If you are a Costco member, pick up some frozen mango, pineapple, strawberries.   My favourite is about a cup of water, few handfuls of mango, a little pineapple and top off with spinach.   We have a blendtec and it produces a nice green fruit smoothie.

Congrats on your new toy.  Smoothies are a "by feel" type of thing for me, and we make them daily.

Yogurt, Orange Juice, Fruit, ice, and Maple Syrup to sweeten as needed.

If the fruit is frozen, you won't need much ice.

A spoonful of peanut butter adds a twist, especially with strawberries and bananas.  Go get a menu one of the smoothie places to get ideas of combinations.

You might consider buying fruit on sale and pre portion in the freezer.  Bananas, blueberries, strawberries, pinapple are standbys for us.

I freeze fresh fruit when in season. I mix frozen fruit with protein powder and almond milk. I add a little ice, doesn't take much.

Yes. Use our Ninja a lot. Kale in your fruit smoothie is good stuff also. Frozen fruit is fine but, we try to use seasonal stuff (fruit & greens).

+2 on freezing fresh local fruits. I put about 1/2 cup on plastic wrap and bundle it up and freeze, then vacuum seal. We do blueberries and strawberries. I keep pineapple chopped up the same way in the freezer. We just grab an assortment and toss it in.

We also add a tablespoon of coconut oil, sesame seeds or whole flaxseeds to the mix. Some of our favorites are:

red delicious apples, carrots, and fresh ginger
    strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and banana
    grapes, pineapple, and strawberries

Just let your imagination be your guide and have fun!

  • Kale or spinach, carrot, celery, apple, banana, yogurt, flax seed, strawberries or blueberries and ice. Watch the amount of some fruits, very high in sugar, especially grapes.

Using Banana in the smoothie is a great way to smooth it out if it seems watery.

Just a suggestion, box that baby back up and swap it out for the 1500 watt Ninja Duo. It comes with individual cups and blades just for smoothies. And, the extra 500 watts of power makes a huge difference. I'm talking Smoothie King quality smoothies. No chunks of ice or crystals, it's completely blended smooth.

And, we throw Kale on our smoothies, great for you and you can't even taste it.
  • Half of a frozen banana adds smooth texture so it tastes more like a shake than a slushy. The downside of the Ninja vs Blendtec/Vitamix is that the Ninja is more of a grinder than a blender and won't produce super smooth texture. I like mine though and it is a great deal.

The Ninja 1500 blends just add smooth and creamy as the high dollar blend tec at my local shop. Big improvement from the standard Ninja 1000.
