what's everyone's thoughts on this Netflix series?

FYI if you haven't watched it... It's a must see!

steven Avery and his family are a sick looking bunch.... But as a law school student... I think the defense presented enoughy for atleast a reasonable doubt.

I tried posting on the old making a murder post here yesterday but it was apparently sunk...

I really enjoyed the documentary.  I agree that based on the documentary there certainly appeared to be enough evidence for reasonable doubt.  That being said, I don't know how unbiased the documentary was.  Almost all of the courtroom footage for Steven Avery's trial was the defense picking apart at the prosecution so in the end we as the viewers are only getting one side of the story.

    Spoiler below:
If he committed the crime then I just can't believe he would be stupid enough to leave the car on his property.  As pointed out in the show- they had a car crusher.  Also he had a huge property and lived in the middle of nowhere so why would he bury/burn her right in front of his trailer.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

They left out a lot in the series. Like how he contacted her 3 times during that day and two times his numbers were *67 so they wouldn't show up on her phone. They found his sweat under the hood of her car that was his. The bullet came out his gun that they collected the day of his crime. Things were definitely tampered with and don't add up though

Definitely presented with a sympathetic viewpoint, but I enjoyed the series, and that.

I live 40 minutes away from Two Rivers where this happened. 60 minutes is filming there for a follow up to provide the "full" story regarding this. Just food for thought...this film does not include all of the facts. I am not saying it was not interesting and makes you think.... But remember... Just because the glove doesn't fit....you should NOT aquit ....it certainly could have been one of the brothers framing him. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.      STAY CALM...EGG ON

    Interesting series.

My take-away was everyone involved from Avery to the police were an incredibly incompetent bunch using the law to settle grudges.

I think he was dumb enough to not crush the car, and I think the cops were worried enough to plant evidence.

The one I feel bad for is Haulbach and the mentally deficient cousin.  Everyone else's **** caught them and ruined their lives.

I watched it. And did some digging on the Internet.  Everybody has an opinion of course but from what I have seen I would clear set-up and evidence planting from the police BUT because they knew he did it - which I think he did - and they did not want him to get away with it. Not that that excuses what they did.

But for sure there is a big difference in thinking he did it and having reasonable doubt, which is the standard...better 100 guilty persons go free than 1 innocent person go to jail, is the theory.  Seems clear there was reasonable doubt so he should have been acquitted.

Didn't read the thread as I was worried about spoilers.....just finished episode 6 and I am absolutely captivated by the story.  The arrogance and misconduct of that county (whether or not they actually framed him) is disgusting.

    ...
That's is, unfortunately, likely true for many (if not most) cases in many  localities.
