Building a Large BGE table. Need advice.

I am building my table out of some poplar lumber I got from a local sawmill and was looking for some suggestions as to what type of finish would be the best. Maybe an just an oil such as teak oil or use a stain and urethane. It will be outside and not covered and I live in north Alabama if that plays into the decision as what to use.

Really nice looking start to your table so far.
i used a really heavy outdoor deck stain. With a dark color.
several reasons, I used cheap wood,( from pallet wood) and other different types of wood, and wanted it to look uniform. Secondly, the egg gets pretty dusty and ashy over time. So the dark keeps it from looking too dirty.
heres a picture of my setup
