We will be making a trip to New Orleans in March for the annual HPBE show. We have accommodations near the convention, but was wondering if we need a car? If not, what's the best way to get from the airport and back? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, what are the can't miss eateries? Seafood and steak, amongst others.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

The best place to visit in NOLA is @nolaegghead 's house

Look into the shuttle services they have at the airport. They go to all the big hotels in the city and you can arrange pick up from your hotel too. Book ahead of time though. You don't need a car. There are trolleys and if the walk is too long you could always Uber. I ventured the city (mostly alone) in May and had a great time.
Cafe du Monde of course. And there is a sports bar on Bourbon Street called Bayou Burgers that has great food.XL BGE & 36" Blackstone

You don't need a car. Airport shuttle, cheap, inconvenient. Cab, expensive to and from the airport. Drivers are usually characters. Uber and Lift - I've had excellent experiences with them. Or rent a car. They're cheap, but you have to park it. Once in town, you can take the streetcar and do some walking. Short cab rides are pretty cheap.
There are a few threads on places to eat. nomenu.com is an excellent resource. Tom Fitzmorris is THE food critic in nola.

Go getcha from fried chicken at Willie Mae's Scotch House. Some of the best damn fried chicken I've eaten; and I partake in a lot of fried chicken!

Mr. B's Bistro for brunch. Get the BBQ shrimp.
R'Evolution is absolutely phenomenal. one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. Recommended by @nolaegghead when we made a trip to NOLA in 2013. Cochon was pretty good to.
I read the post I made about R'Evolution, and now I want to eat there again!
