OT Recent Ebay scam, Pie in the Face Game, OT

Ok, so this is just a rant but here is what happened....

My two very young boys have been asking santa for the "pie in the face" game, which is the hot toy for young kids this year.  Well it is sold out absolutely everywhere.  They sell for around $15 if they were in stock.  The last month or so ebay has had them selling for around $50 a pop.  Finally about 2 weeks ago I found a buy it now listing for $28.88 and free shipping.  Of course I jumped on it.  The guy had perfect feedback.  He sold the 15 games he had listed in less than an hour.  I kept watching and he kept relisting 15 more as they sold out.

Well....he finally "shipped" the game a week or so ago and I never received it.  So I got worried, clicked on his page and all of a sudden he has 0 items for sale and negative feedbacks are piling up.  Luckily I ordered the game last night (from someone else) and having it shipped express to get it on time.

The nerve of this scammer........There are now hundreds of kids that will now not get what they asked Santa for.

Rant over, thanks for reading

Had the same thing happen for small green eggs like 5 yrs back. There's still at least 1 poster that still posts here that bought one as well as me. We ended up getting our money back but I was pretty sure it was a scam when they kept re-listing more. Sorry to hear ithappened to you but eBay will refund your money and glad you figured it out in time.

A couple years ago people here on the forum were buying new large Big Green Eggs on Ebay for $300 - $400 with free shipping. Turned out to be a scam.

Lucky for you it's minimal but still a pain. Enjoy Christmas and New Years. Don't worry about him. He'll probably get hit by a bus next week.  =)

Hackers take over accounts on ebay. They find one with great ratings, sell a bunch of fake stuff and then disappear. So the name you bought from probably had no idea someone was using the account and ruining their name.

Not really.  Just go to My EBay to the purchase history.  Click on the action bar for the item in question and select "resolve a problem".  Pretty easy.

I've been on eBay since 1998 and didn't have any problems until lately when ordering accessories for my Surface Pro 3. Three bad docking stations and bad keyboard....every time eBay took care of it though.  It sucks you have to wait a week on certain disputes, but the buyer always wins.  That's why I rarely sell there anymore.

This.  Had my account hacked last week.  Luckily caught it quickly and eBay delisted before anyone lost money.
