Cleaning outside

Hi-
im new to the forum and just inherited an egg.  It needs to be cleaned up a little on the outside.   I was wondering what's best to do this?  Don't want anything to happen to the hubby's new toy

i would not go crazy scrubbing it down, the egg almost cleans itself in the rain. the trick is using it often which keeps the inner ceramics dry, if moisture gets in there it oozes out and makes a temporary mess, but dont worry as the next heavy rain will wash it clean. i had the worst example of a messy egg ever posted on this forum, egg was wet from non use all winter and it literally turned brown the first cook come spring. couple of rain storms and it was back to shiney green.

If you want to make your egg really shiny, get a HOT wet towel and wipe it down.

Welcome. Hot/warm soapy water + elbow grease.  On real bad stuff I've used Purple Power degreaser and then wiped clean of chemicals with rags with just got/warm water. Never, ever try to clean the inside of the egg like this

Good Call!  Used this on the siding when nothing else less caustic would cut the mustard. Worked like a charm.

This stuff works awesome. Bought it to clean my smokeware cap but a little spray on the egg cleans it right up.
