30th Anniversary Service Award

Well back on June 24, 2015 was my 30th year with company.  For every 5 years of service you get to pick from a selection of gifts and it gets better the longer you are with the company.  This year was tough, because they didn't really have anything I wanted or need tell I seen the Coleman Road Trip Portable Gas Grill.  Almost a year ago I bought a Little Kahuna, knockoff of the BGE mini to do weekday cooks.  It is ok, isn't much faster getting up to temp then my XL, but uses less lump.  So I figured what the heck, this is free and will only cost me a few small propane bottles.  Going to try it out tonight.  We will see how it goes.

That is pretty slick.  I could definitely see that getting used for camping and tailgating, or even weeknight cooks where you just don't have time to light a fire.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

  • Congratulations on achieving 30 years.. Enjoy your weekend.

    Congrats on 30 years.

My father-in-law has one of those grills and really likes it for tailgating.  He named it "Lt. Dan".....when I asked why he said "because it's got legs!!"  He ain't right.

Congrats on your longevity. You just don't see that often this day and time.

I have an earlier version of this and it has been a workhorse. Unfortunately where I tailgate, they only allow gas grills. There are a few accessory cooking surfaces you can purchase. As well as attachments for the big propane tank. You will enjoy this. It really does a great job for what it is..,..a gasser. Keep the inside of it clean.....to maintain the igniter function.

Congrats on what I would consider a huge accomplishment. You don't hear or see too many folks that stick with a company that long these days. Great job. Enjoy the gift.

Congratulations!!!!  That is awesome.  I plan on sticking it out with my original employer too until retirement.  Just 12 years and 11 more months to go. LOL.

I use a similar grill at the vacation house we go to every summer.  The one thing I've noticed is that it tends to create excess soot at higher temps.  Maybe it's because the fatty meats are dripping so close to the burners??  Not sure.  Other than that, it works fine.

Thank you everyone for the kind words.  The reason for the long jevaty is when ever things at work got slow and I was given a chance to to do something new I took it.  I started out as a draftsman, then got into doing environmental assessments and clean up. After doing that for 19 years I then became an inspector on large water transmission mains and sewer force mains for about 7 years and for the last few years I have been doing telecom work building cell sites for Sprint, AT&T and outside plant work.  I guess I will see where that takes me.  I used the grill to cook a couple steaks tonight and it worked pretty good, but my wife and I could swear we could taste of propane in the meat, but it was still good.  It got to temp quick and it cooked quick.  Here are some pictures of it.
