Because nothing is less **** than uninsured people getting emergency health care and everyone paying for that, and that's automatic bankruptcy unless you win the lottery.
You pay anyway. The difference is instead of a streamlined approach of the losses being transferred directly to the paying customers on an as needed basis, now they are run through a huge bureaucracy which often has us paying for services never rendered or even needed, or desired. Pure genius! So instead of paying for healthcare as needed we are paying for health insurance that may or may not be needed AND a huge bureaucracy to tell you what you can and cannot do. Even in the face of every single thing that the GOP said would happen, happening, you want to defend this juvenile thought? Hmm.

By that logic, then why do we have any kind of healthcare insurance?

Cost would be drastically lower without it. This was born out of the post war boom when the tax codes changed and companies found creative ways to compensate their valued employees. Check it out. You're kinda correct. You just didn't know it. Insurance is a hugely wasteful. No question.
  • I can tell you this for certain, my insurance gets worse for more money every year. It was bad before, but exponentially worse now. Of course, that could just be our company culture, but it feels accelerated.

You mean it's not getting better???? Hmmm, shocking. It's a big time loser for everyone who is or was already paying. For those who weren't, somewhat benign. The more subtle and onerous results remain to hit you upside the head. For some there will be a loss of company benefits. For some there will be onerous taxation. For others there will just be the lack of access. Then there is the problem of less of our best prospects moving into the healthcare profession due to the amount of regulation in the industry. Lose, lose, lose, lose.

^^^^^^^^^^ that is sadly very accurate.  And some providers retiring early, not accepting the exchange products much less Medicare and Medicaid.  It pushes us in the direction of a two tiered system. Not ideal and at enormous expense paid by who, the tax payers.

I'm really not listening to all the bs.  The concepts are pretty much identical to car insurance.  It's been politicized.  And actually a republican concept.  And the drum beats in that vein.  Ho hum.

Ya right?  Wished I'd have stayed up later to see that!
BTW, I'm still working on PVW.  Not 100% sure it'll happen. If it does you can count on seeing a post @pgprescott! ;)
