New Years

All, we are having a Texas themed New Years party - and I'm going to do (among other things) pulled pork. There are 6 of us in total, and the intention is to have leftovers - I was thinking of a 5/6 pound Pork Shoulder (bone in) joint
a) Do you think that is enough?
b) how long would a 6 lb joint take to slow smoke?

We were going to host it at our place, but it is now going to be at my Parents - so I'm going to cook it on the Egg and then take it over. How long would it stay warm for after removing from the Egg? Could I heat it through in foil in the oven at theirs?

Thanks!

Cool. That amount is probably fine, I would just get about 6-8 # bone in Boston butt. If there is a bit left over, all the better. However, the smaller one would feed them easily. If it were me, I would smoke it the day before, pull it and put it in a large crock pot. Just refrigerate it and heat it up for the party. Dump a can of coke or some chicken or veggie broth in there and turn it on low or warm.  You won't notice the difference from fresh.
As for cooking time, that is a tricky question. If you go at 250-275 until the butt is to temperature of 160 then double foil the butt and return to the grill, I would estimate it taking less than eight hours. If you do not foil, I would say closer to twelve and up to sixteen depending on the piece of meat. Foil it and keep it simple. The guest will love the results and you will enjoy the day. Hope you have a great time!
