Eggers Helping Others

Fellow Eggers.  

A few people had kicked the idea around about trying to help others more after the devastation that happened in SC not too long ago.  Many fellow Eggers pulled together and donated to these folks that needed it.  

The two best ideas kicked around were the following: 

1. Collect money to donate/buy goods for a local food bank (we are a food community after all). 
2. Sponsor a family (or more) for Christmas. 

What do you guys think?  Do you have a better way of helping others?  

I was wanting to have a "champion" for their area/state to help.  For instance @NorthGACock would be the champion for his area in SC.  The donation would go to him, he would donate accordingly.  Same for my area, I'd be the champion and donate accordingly.    

We have an awesome group of people here with amazing hearts.  I feel we could really make a huge difference in a food bank pulling together.  

 I hope those reading this will not view this as a solicitation effort. Many of us have been blessed in many ways. I am just trying to see if others might feel the need to help others in some way. 

What do you say folks?  By all means if someone else has a better suggestion, please don't be bashful and let us know.

Matt, I'd be happy to help. Food bank in my area does a lot of business for such a small town.

@theyolksonyou , not sure exactly why that was inserted.  

I thought that the first round, the folks in SC from the flood may need some help. So possibly @northGAcock or @Dyal_SC or @Chubbs could chime in as to the urgency.  

A couple hundred dollars would do wonders for a food bank.

I've been out of pocket this afternoon. I didn't get a notification either. I'll be happy to help coordinate something for the GA crowd.

Sorry guys.....for jumping in slowly. I am in and happy to assist in any way. Matt and I spoke before this went out..,.i am on board. 

Given our passion for food, I think food bank or some other effort towards stopping hunger is a worthy effort. I hope you all had a great holiday.
