Wood splits

I ordered some peach wood splits from fruttawood that just came. I thought they'd be smaller. Can I just put a whole split in the lump tomorrow for the turkey?

Might be too much smoke. I have heard that turkey can take on a lot of smoke. But I really don't know if there is any truth in that
