Is this pan big enough to use??

Have a quick question. Am doing the Mad Max tomorrow, and this is the only pan I have for the turkey. Is it large enough around the edges, or should I buy another one? The bird is 18lbs.

That's big enough. If the pan gets too wide it starts to restrict the airflow around the plate setter and will mess with the eggs temp depending on your size egg. It would on my large anyways. If you have the extra space it might be nice with a bigger drip pan to catch drippings for the gravy. I've used one that size in the past and worked for MadMax"The pig is an amazing animal. Yeah I am kind of worried about catching enough drippings from the sides. Obviously the drip from the center would be fine, but you think I would lose alot on the sides?

I picked this up last night at Walmart. I think it was $8. Fits up to a 28lb bird. It might be worth picking up for a piece of mind

Yeah that looks nice. May have to go first thing in the morning before the crazy crowds come out. Thanks for the help!

Your turkey will be great! Just remember to keep the pan off the plate setter so you don't burn the drippings for gravy. Get ready for the best turkey you've ever ate!!!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

@eggsurance_agent, your pan will be fine. As weberwho says above, put some spacers between it and the plate setter. Squashed soda cans or flattened balls of aluminum foil will do it. prevents burning.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. @JethroVA thanks for the tips! I was wondering how to get it above the PS without the stands Max uses.
