@CheeseheadinAZ  I think your flooring will be fine as is.  With fire not being an issue, what is it that concerns you?  If you put down a mat, I'd be concerned with staining when mosture gets trapped (personal experience)

i would get a pressure washer. i think spilling something is more a problem than anything your egg will do, cant predict where that next spill is going to happen. spilling a pan of grease probably would make a mess on that stone

Grease spills and spots can leave quite a mess as travertine is quite porous. There are water and oil repelling sealers but I don't know much about the specifics of those. My guess is that in outdoor use they may not hold up too well.

    Probably worth asking a pro.

OP is in AZ - as am I.  I've seen two homes where the sealer has reacted very negatively to the extreme summer heat.

OP - I really wouldn't worry about it.  If you ever find it to be an issue, drop me a line.  Cleaning floor tile isn't exactly what I do, but between chemicals and media blasting, I'm confident I could help out if staining was ever an issue.

They make concrete sealers. I've had it on my driveway for a few years in Texas heat and haven't noticed any issues. Maybe something like that would work?
My egg table is on a flagstone patio. I didn't put anything on it. Though my stuff doesn't have a chance to spill on the ground unless I'm carrying inside and trip.
