I have read about and heard about Mad Max Rosen's recipe for several years now but never tried it. So in prep Thanksgiving this year I thought I'd experiment when the pressure is not on success for dinner. ;-) I am using a 13 pound turkey I picked up at Wegmans.
I will be posting pictures throughout the day to my Flickr album for anyone interested in watching the progress. Here is the link to the full set of pictures: Tom's Turkey Cook on Flickr Enjoy!
Local to Springfield, VA? My wife is out of town this weekend so swing on by for a beer and some BGE turkey talk. Cheers!

Taste was very good, but not great. Nice and moist, but not as much spice flavor that I would like. I might play with some seasoning of the left over gravy. Relish was a great blend of sweet and sour. -

Great looking meal. Nicely done! On my list now.Fort Worth, TX
LG Big Green Egg, Weber Genesis Gasser, 36” Blackstone Griddle, Weber Jumbo Joe
Flame Boss 300, Orange Thermapen (because Orange is the fastest) -
Any suggestions you have or things you'd do different?

I had used unsalted butter for the gravy . . . it probably could have used a little extra salt. I also went easy on the salt in the turkey. I did not brine the turkey either so I might consider doing that for Thanksgiving.
