Ron, since I move over here 8 years ago, we haven't had a single one. Kind of sad really that we live in such a world filled with nuts that parents are scared of what their kids may get. I don't blame them, but it's sad just the same. Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays.

I have been in my house for 15 years, but I have not had one kid.  First year, bought bags of candy, and wanted to be the house that all the kids wanted to go to.  No one showed.
Second year put a sign at the end of the driveway - not a kid showed....

I guess the ROI for walking a flagpole property with a 400+ foot long driveway is not worth a few pieces of candy. I think the kids are smart and have moved onto higher density housing complexes and getting higher yields.

    Good for them.

We get a crap load of trick or treaters. We set up the projector and play scary movies and get the fire pit going. We also put out a cooler of beers for the adults so that's pretty popular. We don't decorate though but you surely went all out that looks great. Wife decided she's dressing the baby up in a new costume every day this week so day 1 she is toga baby.

Our neighborhood does a parade, costume contest, and then trick or treating on the Sunday before Halloween every year.  It's great because it starts at 3, so things are usually wrapped up by 5:30-6.  We get a good number of people, although we're a few blocks away from the park where the costume contests are.

    What else could I do?

Just did a Trunk and Treat at  our church....  I was Jake from State Farm.  We had about 2500 kids come thru last night....  I'm exhausted!

Don't decorate for Halloween. We live behind locked gates with 4 dogs wandering the property. Prior to putting up our fence and gates didn't have one Trick or Treater so...

Live in a neighborhood where the first year we did it   (1400 trick or treaters)    Have gone out to dinner since then.   We have people from several counties come to our neighborhood, park on the grass, leave trash, etc and then leave.    Cant stand it but I guess this comes with becoming and old fart LOL

  • We live on a dead end street that's not part of a subdivision.  We don't get many at all.  The neighborhood kids that stop by get a full size candy bar.  I think we gave away eight last year.

If a kid makes it down my driveway I'm going to give him/her an entire Wagyu brisket. Because it's pretty ballsy to drive down the creepy unlit road with no houses down another road and up to the single house.

We live in a big subdivision with a lot of kids and get our share of kids except last year when it was really cold.  I have been talking with some of the father's of kids about getting together to take our kids Trick or Treating and I will pull a wagon full of iced down beer for us to drink as we walk.  That's the way to trick or treat.  Having a 6 year old Halloween is a big thing.

We get a constant barrage of kids.  35 feet between houses....they get imported to our hood.
We set up the PA system, play some scary background music and work a Halloween sound board.  I think we must have made 20 kids cry  (maybe some wet costumes too).  Parents paradoxically find their kids terrified from this uproariously funny.  If they don't we just give them beer, that smoothes things out.  Usually.

We also wear scary costumes and jump out screaming.

Then there's the ubiquitous playing of thriller, at some point, which some people are conditioned to spontaneously break out into a line dance when they hear it.  People: they are weird.

@nolaegghead your hood would be a cool place to trick or treat. We were talking about that last weekend. If we put up some of the decorations you guys have, or neighbors would think we'd lost.

How many trips did you make to get his friends there?  That truly must've looked like a clown car.

Ready. Our tradition is to sit outside with the projector watching It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown & Hocus Pocus handing out treats and eating pizza. This year I'll be making the pies on the tailgate using the MM. We enjoy seeing the neighborhood children dressed up. Funny we see them grow up over the years. Some are now in college. And then the cycle of new kids begins. It's fun for us.

AUDI TT? nice. Are you 4 feet tall?  No shame in that just saying it would make the car really roomy.
