First ABT

Making some ABTs for the first time... First error, set two bags of jalepenos down in Trader Joes as I was looking at a bottle of wine and obviously left one at the store. As you can see in the pic, I had to use some small bell peppers.

Sliced and seeded:

Filled with cream cheese, monterey jack, shallot, chili power concoction:

Little smokeys:

Wrapped and ready to go:

and back to consuming beer as they sit in the Egg.

Glad I have the Smokeware cap, the sky opened up and I would have some wet turds if it were not for the cap.

    That sounds nasty.

@Gamecockeggman, here you go, the finished pics:

    dark outside:

    the entire load:

    another full load shot:

closer look at the bell pepper side:

and a closer look at the jalepeno side:

@JohnnyTarheel, both are damn good. As suspected the bell pepper side is sweet, and the jalepeno has some heat. That said, with the seeds and membrane scraped out, they are mild.

    I used the recipe.

  • Pat yourself on the back!  You have delivered the cryptonite needed to combat hunger, and have done so in an honorable way.  Nice job, they look fantastic.

They look great...  I'm gonna mix in some bell pepper next time I make them.

Small Tip:  Don't cut the top of the pepper off, just the stem.  Then cut down the length through the top, and your cheese/filling won't ooze out the backside of your ABT.

I just googled this image, but similar...

@RedSkip: thanks, I'd prefer nothing to ooze out the backside.

First time I cooked them I made a mistake by only using a half slice of bacon on each one and wrapping it tight to cover. When it cooked the bacon constricted and squeezed out a good portion of the cheese mixture. Still tasted great but ugly. Live and learn.

Abts are like pizza and sex... It's all good. I like the idea of yellow or red peppers. Many don't like the heat. One of the best apps I've done was a drunken mix. Roma tomatoes stuffed with Italian sausage, cheese and mashed potatoes. Your stuff looks great.
