What is inside a YETI Rambler for insulation?

Love the cup and am amazed by how long it holds ice. Anyone ever damage one, maybe dropped it on a rock or run over it accidentally then decide to cut it in half and see what is in there? Is it an air space, foam, unicorn fur?

Nothing ... well, almost nothing ...

It's just a vacuum... Atleast that's what they say... I think it's pure wizardry... Keeps my coffee hot for 4 hours...

My guess is polyisocyanurate. Like "spray foam", not like polystyrene (foam beads - like the $5 coolers you get at the grocery store).XLBGE, SS tableMcKinney, TX.

Hyrdo Flask makes similar products that I think work just as well. They describe the process HERE and show a diagram.
I think some of the companies put some insulation in the vacuum as well and or create a larger gap between the inner and outer shell.
I think the trick is that these companies making them out of metal create a better product than the ones you find for lower prices with metal mating with plastic. They likely lose the vacuum soon after you buy it and it just doesn't work better than a standard insulated mug.

Yep I think it is just vacuum. I had one that wasn't working as well as it should and I think the vacuum was compromised. If it gets a hole or air is allowed in at a seam it won't work so well. I contacted them and they sent me a new one and a return label for the old one.

I just noticed they now say dishwasher safe. I have always hand washed mine.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -

It is a vacuum. It is basically a dewar, what you use to store liquid nitrogen in science lab, although a dewar is usually glass lined.
