Outdoor Kitchen

I'm building a new house and I'm having an outdoor kitchen built. I have gas stubbed out but I don't really want a gas grill. I'm debating on a two lbge set-up with a twin gas burner on the side or a lbge, gas grill, and a 2 gas burner on the side. I currently only have one bge but I should be able to pick up another. I am just not sure about resell later down the road.
Also, I found a picture/plans online for the cut out at 16" tall, 25" wide, and 27" deep. Counter height 36" and it said 36" deep but looks like 30" on the drawing. Is this a good measurement to give builder?

what is the cut out dimension for? Also consider making everything portable so you can take it with you.
-
The cut-out is for the large BGE. Portable may be difficult but I'll see.

Perhaps this will help. If the counter is 30 or 36 inches deep I suppose you could just center the egg, but I think I would be inclined to put the hole closer to the front of the counter. I think the important measurements are 21 inch diameter for the cutout, and 15 inches from the shelf to the counter (the A measurement in the plans).

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Yes it will be against a brick wall and I want to be able to open the lid without hitting wall. I will pull it closer to the front. Anyone know the dimension of a large from front to back of open lid?

I'd build the kitchen with the 2 gas burner but wouldn't have any grill built into it if worried about resale. You might designate a space for a couple eggs in nests. That way the future homeowner still has space to slide in his/her gasser and still has the benefits of an outdoor kitchen."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

How about keeping the eggs in the nests and rolling them into the cutouts and then adding in fascia to disguise the nests. Then you can easily remove for cleanouts/replacement/etc.

Those are pretty good ideas. Lots to think about.

Here is how I did mine. Works great!

If you run gas you may want to consider a Blackstone type flatop.

@TurtleTiger I would second the thoughts of @GATraveller about incorporating a Blackstone.

An induction burner would be something else I wouldn't want to be without. Besides being handy as a regular burner, add a cast iron pot and it makes a great deep fry station.

@Scott805, that is one nice set up. I am thinking of just keeping my XL in it's nest and build a rolling entertainment center to go along with my SS prep table. That way I can move the egg around based on how the wind is blowing. I don't like it when the smoke it blowing in my face. I like the Challenger stuff, but not the price tag.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Definitely consider a flattop griddle like the Blackstone.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Ok. I'll check out the black stone options. There are some pretty amazing set-ups. I'll take photos once everything is finalized.

@Scott805 that is one sweet setup. I love the rustic look and the vaulted porch. One question, is your brick on your house stained or painted, or is that the color it came. I love the color, mine is old clayish red/orange and am trying to figure out how to change without spending a fortune. I've seen quite a few painted and it seems to hold up ok.
