OT- Anyone polishing their Blackstone griddle?

My Blackstone griddle arrived yesterday and I was surprised to see the carbon steel griddle had been sand blasted.  I watched a You Tube video on how to sand and polish cast iron and was wondering if anyone else has done this either on your CI or griddle.  The results in the video are impressive. 

Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

    @Hawg Fan   congrats on the new griddle.  I've never done anything to mine except rub down with a stainless scrunchie, wipe clean, and oil.  Occasionally, I've left it to clean until the next use - that's been a mistake, and makes cleaning much harder.

    edit - i have the pumice grill stone as well as the cleaning pad kit from RD - both were a waste of money and not needed imo.

    I absolutely love my blackstone, only downside is... i would not keep it outdoors at all times. I made that mistake, and it wasn't long before the burners started to rust.

    I also recommend buying the grate attachment, may not need it since you have  the BGE, but it works pretty good.


    And i would highly recommend the cover.

    I just googled and found a couple of videos and it does look impressive, but for the 700 square inches of cooking surface it seems like a lot of work too!  The surface will get pretty smooth from seasoning it.  There are some suggestions to use flax seed oil:

    That might be a little less work.  I didn't do anything too special.  I did a few rounds of Crisco but it still didn't look that smooth.  The smooth finish came naturally the more I cooked on it.   


    Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    Mines pretty slick now from seasoning. Not sure I'd put the effort into doing the sanding.
