Underbite Problem??

After reading some posts recently about dome alignment I've begun to wonder if I need to realign my dome.  I've attached some pics and would appreciate input.  It seems that my XL has a slight underbite: is it really a problem?  I have done around 12 - 14 cooks that are about 50/50 low n slow (<275) and moderate indirect (350+) or raised direct.  Only a couple of times has the dome temp gone over 500 (both oopses - I gave a beer butt chicken quite a wild ride a couple of weeks ago).  I use a Woo2 w/CGS pizza stone for indirect (no PS).

One thing I've noticed is that there are no 'bent screws' on my bands.  Did the dealer set my egg up right in the first place?  I got it in early August and so may have them come back and readjust.  Oh, and I don't have the spacers, and didn't notice him using anything like that.

Anyhoo - what say the Forum?

  • The Big Green Egg owner needs to keep the band bolts tight after you start to use the Egg. What was tight and working on day one can loosen once metal is subject to heat. I would check them to get them tight. If you need to re-align the top you can look at the BGE assembly video (Biggreenegg.com) to help to do this task. ....I don't see your pictures so can't really tell how bad it actually is.
