It has been a rough week! (Pix Included)

I found out earlier this week that I have a major project due next week. Since Monday it has been 16 hour days at the office. This weekend was the same. Long, long, days.

This morning when I left home it was dark and raining. I was crossing the river bridge and was meeting a car. Right as I got near the car I saw something in my lane almost right in front of where I was sitting. I didn't have time to stop, and I couldn't get in the other lane because of the car. I couldn't go to the right because of the bridge, but I decided to go to the right anyway as far as I could and not hit the bridge. I hoped it was far enough. It wasn't.

I almost made it, but I hit it right on the front edge of my truck. About the time I hit it I realized what it was. It was a grill! One of those cheap Walmart type grills. It was legs up when I hit it.

This is what it looked like.

It didn't do much damage to my truck. I just have a nice scratch on the front.

You can't tell it from the picture, but that gash is pretty deep. It could have been worse. At least it wasn't a gasser.

Crazy, but at least you used your head and didn't make it a bad wreck.  Glad your safe!

Better a four legged grill, than a four legged animal ;-)
  • Dude, they say not to swerve around grills that jump out in front of you in the road. You could have been killed. =)

good to see you posting, I've been wondering!

  • Well, that sucks. I've beat three of the four corners of my car up. The front were road hazards, but no grills. The back was self inflicted. Pisses me off. Good luck with the project!
  • At least it wasn't as bad as that All-State mayhem commercial. Never fun to run over something like that though. Better than swerving then overcorrecting like so many do. Good luck with the project.....sure you'll knock it out of the park.

This too shall pass, or so they say.  Good luck with the project.

btw, is grilling on bridges some kind of a local custom in GA?

  • Thanks for the replies guys. I wasn't that happy about it, but some poor guy got where he was going and found out his grill was gone.

If more people had eggs stuff like this wouldn't happen.

  • Glad you are OK, I almost got into a bad wreck this weekend because of a large cardboard  box in the middle of the interstate. Luckily I managed to keep control and my vehicle didn't roll. The person in the lane next to me came full into my lane and I had to hit the median. With my 6 month old baby in the car no less. But outside of a scare we were all ok.

That's a kind way of looking at it John.

I'd be muttering something about him needing some tie down instruction.
